Audit Manager - Grant Thornton Cambodia


Job Description:

Divisional administration

  • Assist the Director in drawing up the Firm’s calendar to ensure the even distribution of work and staff assignments throughout the year
  • Assist the Director in all relevant administrative work within the division
  • Actively pursue, meet and use relevant info provided by the Firm and individual KPIs

Engagement management

  • Assist the engagement partner in the engagement acceptance/re-acceptance process
  • Initiate engagement planning activities and ensure that planning activities are executed on a timely manner and in accordance with the auditing standards and Firm policies
  • Take responsibility and review over tailoring of work programs
  • Take responsibility over the selection of engagement team members and engagement forecast and time lines
  • Liaise with client’s management for smooth flow of audit work and help ensure that good working relationship is maintained at all times
  • Initiate and assist the engagement partner in performing risk assessments, establishing the audit objectives and setting the overall scope
  • Ensure proper execution of engagement plans by conducting timely review of work completed by audit engagement team members, and discussing issues with appropriate client personnel in a timely manner
  • Bring appropriate matters to the engagement partner's attention, including actions taken, notable information, and matters for the engagement partner's decision
  • Inform the engagement partner promptly (during the audit and throughout the year) of client developments and auditing or accounting problems requiring the engagement partner's action
  • Monitor actual time charges against approved budget and initiate appropriate action to resolve any potential or actual problems
  • Review drafts of financial statements and audit reports for financial audits, and report on findings and recommendations for other engagement
  • Initiate the composition and write up of KIM and Management Letter Points and ensure timely completion and submission of said documents and other deliverables to clients
  • Initiate and tailor appropriately the Management Representation Letter
  • Assist the engagement partner in conducting the closing meeting and initiate the preparations for such meeting including the preparation of meeting agenda and when appropriate, represent the partner during closing meeting
  • See to it that all members of the engagement team observe proper protocol when working at client’s offices and in all other dealings with clients.

People Management

  • Ensure that job evaluations forms are accomplished for all members of the engagement team and said evaluations are discussed with and acknowledge by the staff concerned and signed copies submitted to P&C
  • As part of the annual performance review process participate in higher-level group deliberations on the overall performance evaluation of seniors and assistants
  • Provide continuing mentoring to audit staff
  • Act as program leader in various in-house training and workshops
  • Take responsibility over timely billings and collection
  • From time to time, undertake special projects and perform various administrative work assigned by the Director and Managing Partners


Required Qualifications:

  • CA, ACCA or equivalent
  • Sound understanding of Horizon, Voyager methodology, EQCM, Audit Manual and internal Grant Thornton processes
  • Familiar with IFRS and ISA
  • Native English speaker
  • Appetite for emerging market opportunities and challenges
  • High level of responsibility and quality decision-making
  • Responsive
  • Self-motivated
  • Demonstrates initiative
  • Passion for development of local staff and can foster a good team spirit
  • Strong English communication skills
  • Ability to maintain and develop existing and new client relationships

About Us:

Grant Thornton has had a presence in Cambodia for 7 years. Following a recent management reorganisation the firm will have around 15 professional staff and one experienced expatriate director who reports directly to the Managing Partner.
